A Special Board of Education meeting was held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in the Board Meeting Room in the Elementary Building. Administrators present were: Superintendent Jessica Bland. Vice-President Diane Pelan-Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. and noted the Nebraska Open Meetings Law. Notice of this meeting was properly posted and published by advance Public Notice in accordance with Board Policy #2008 with notice and advance agenda given to the President of the Board and all members prior to the meeting date. Dane Johnson moved that Aaron Anderson, Marilee Groth, Brett Johnson and Tim Magnusson are absent, excused. Kiley Johnson seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-5; Against Motion-0; Other-4. Motion carried. ROLL CALL Roll Call was called with the following members present: Dan Gramke, Dane Johnson, Diane Pelan-Johnson, Kiley Johnson and Henry Unwin. CONSENT AGENDA Unwin moved that the consent agenda be approved as presented. Kiley Johnson seconded the motion. There was no discussion. Voting results were: For Motion-5; Against Motion-0; Other-4. Motion carried. Items included in the consent agenda included the approval of August 24, 2021 meeting agenda; approval of claims from the General Fund in the amount of $290.76 and the Building Fund in the amount of $8,167.00; and the approval of minutes from the August 16, 2021 regular school board meeting. Brett Johnson arrived at 6:11 p.m. COVID-19 RETURN TO LEARN PLAN DISCUSSION Superintendent Bland reviewed the new quarantine process for staff/students who have contact with a Covid positive person. APPROVAL OF TRANSFER OF FUNDS TO THE SAVINGS AND DEPRECIATION FUND Unwin moved to approve the placement of $75,000 from the 2020-2021 General Fund Budget into the Savings and Depreciation Fund. Dane Johnson seconded the motion. Transferring funds to the Savings and Depreciation Fund helps preserve our budget authority. Voting results were: For Motion-6; Against Motion-0; Other-3. Motion carried. BUDGET WORK SESSION Carl Dietz and Matt Fisher from First National Capital Markets along with Superintendent Bland reviewed the 2021-2022 budget and tax levy request. Much discussion followed. APPROVAL OF CLASSIFIED STAFF WAGES AND/OR BENEFIT PACKAGE After much discussion, it was decided to leave the 2021-2022 classified wages and benefits as previously decided on. APPROVAL OF BLEACHER FENCING/RAILING After much discussion, it was decided to table approval of the bleacher fencing/railing project until after Superintendent Bland receives more bids.
