The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board convened in open and public session on August 11, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., in the Conference Room at Oakland Heights. Notice of the meeting was made public in advance thereof by posting notice in three places, one of the designated methods for giving advance notice. The meeting was called to order by President, Judy Schernikau. Present were Kathy Rennerfeldt, and Dan Tanksley, Jr. Randy Johnson and Sally Olson, secretary was absent. Also in attendance were Administrator David Deemer, Director of Nursing Christina Arnold, and Business Office Manager Karen Nelson. Mayor Ted Beckner was able to join via zoom at 8:22 a.m. Minutes of the July 22, 2021 meeting were approved as distributed. Administrator David Deemer was asked to present business items. Kathy Rennerfeldt made a motion to accept the proposal from Voss lighting in the amount of $65,605 to upgrade to LED lighting throughout the facility. The estimated monthly savings by upgrading to LED will pay for the estimated costs. Dan Tanksley, Jr. seconded. Motion carried. Dan Tanksley, Jr. made a motion to approve the FY 2021-2022 budget. Kathy Rennerfeldt seconded. Motion carried. Accounts receivables and write-offs were discussed. Three employees will attend the fall convention in Kearney on August 23-25. Christina gave a report on COVID and discussed QAPI data. Burt County is currently in a green zone and Oakland Heights unvaccinated employees are being routinely tested per the CDC guidelines. Oakland Heights census is 40 with 1 bed available. Assisted Living census is 18 with 4 units available. There are openings for a full-time day, evening and night nurse aide. A Part-time medication aide is needed for assisted living and full-time dietary aides and cooks are also needed. Incident summaries were reviewed and financials were distributed. Kathy Rennerfeldt made a motion to pay warrants submitted; Dan Tanksley, Jr. seconded. Judy Schernikau made a motion to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters. Kathy Rennerfeldt seconded. Ted Beckner, Karen Nelson, and Christina Arnold departed, and David Deemer was asked to remain. Entered executive session at 9:29 a.m. Resumed open and public session at 9:54 a.m. Dan Tanksley, Jr. moved for David Deemer to attend the AHCA/NCAL convention in National Harbor, MD on October 11-13.
