Burt County Board of Equalization Meetings of the Burt Co Board of Equalization were held July 13 & 21, 2023 in order to hold hearings and make decisions on 2023 Form 422 Property Protests. The meetings were all held in the Burt Co Courthouse in Tekamah, NE. Notice of the meetings given in advance in the Oakland Independent and on the Co. Website. Copies of the proof of publications are on file with the Co Clerk. July 13, 2023: Supervisors Present were: David Schold, Gary “Bird” Swanson, Jeff Kutchera, Paul Richards, Carl Pearson, Sam Titus and Ted Connealy. Connealy left early. Present from the Assessor’s Office was: Katie Hart, Burt Co. Assessor. Public Hearings were held for 2023 Property Valuation Protests from 9:01 A.M. - 1:23 P.M.; the board recessed for lunch; public hearings were opened back up and continued from 2:00 P.M. - 3:54 P.M. With all requested appointments being completed and all protests being considered, the Board went back into regular session of Board of Equalization. Co Assessor Hart presented Overvalued / Undervalued Property and Form 425 Destroyed Property Forms for board consideration. The CBOE reviewed and approved the adjustments… motion Titus, Swanson. By Roll Call Vote: Ayes – Swanson, Kutchera, Richards, Pearson, Titus and Schold. Nays- none. Absent – Connealy. The notice for the new valuations will be sent; property owner will have 30 days to Protest the adjusted value. July 21, 2023: Supervisors Present were: David Schold, Gary ‘Bird’ Swanson, Jeff Kutchera, Carl Pearson, Sam Titus, Ted Connealy and David Schold. Titus left early. Absent - Paul Richards. Present from the Assessor’s Office: Katie Hart, Burt Co. Assessor. Final Decisions were approved for Form 422’s #1-115… motion Connealy, Richards, Ayes – 5, Absent -Richards & Titus. The Board thanked the Assessor’s office for the work they did for the taxpayers. Undervalued/Overvalued Property per §77-1315.01 and one Form 425 Destroyed Property Form were approved… motion Connealy, Swanson, Ayes – 5, Absent -Richards & Titus.
