The Board of Education of the Lyons-Decatur School District No. 20 met in regular session on Monday, September 11, 2023. Present were Archer, Bacon, Brehmer, Christiansen, Miller, Myers, Petersen, Troutman, and Vlach. Lisa Christiansen opened the meeting at 7:35 p.m. Superintendent Report: The NASB area membership meeting will be held on September 20th with Mrs. Bacon, Mr. Vlach and Mrs. Beaudette attending. The State Education Conference will be held November 15th-17th, with registration opening this week. After the drop/adds from this fall our total number of students attending P2T is 20 and we have 17 students taking 26 dual/college classes through NECC and WSC this semester. Principal Report: Mrs. Boden attended an instructional coaching conference in August and has been leading some of our elementary classrooms since school resumed. All staff participate in professional development including work on high yield instructional strategies, proficiency scales, and safety trainings. The PAWS program has 67 students enrolled; this is the last year of the grant, and we will reapply this winter for continuation. Congratulations to our Homecoming Court: Aubrey Andersen, Juan Garcia, Sierra Hecklaible, Chance Mock, Landen Redding, Tate Simonsen, Bailey Tuttle, Ashlynn Whitley. A special congratulations to the queen, Sydney Olsen and the king, Braden Hardin. The Building and Grounds Committee met for our bi-weekly meetings with Clark & Enersen and Boyd Jones on August 17th and 31st. The following motions were made: 1. To approve the consent agenda. 2. To approve the 2023-2024 school district budget, as presented. 3. To approve the 2023-2024 tax request resolution. 4. To approve the cooperative agreement for girls wrestling with Oakland-Craig for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.
