The regular monthly meeting of the Oakland Heights Board of Directors convened in open and public session on January 24, 2024 in the Oakland Heights Conference Room. Notice of the meeting was made public in advance thereof by posting notice in three places, one of the designated methods for giving advance notice. The meeting was called to order by Judy Schernikau, Board President at 8:27am. A quorum was established with the presence of Randy Johnson, Kathy Rennerfeldt, Rosa Schmidt and Dan Tanksley, Jr. Also present was Administrator, David Deemer. Minutes of the December 20, 2023 meeting were approved as distributed. Administrator David Deemer was asked to present and lead discussion for items on the agenda. The kitchen hood will be replaced by the February 15, 2024 completion deadline. The renewal for the Nursing Home license expires on March 31, 2024. David is in the process of filling out the application for renewing. The Board of Directors reviewed several documents, policies and procedures, and plans of action during this monthly meeting. The list included: Drug and Alcohol Policy for Oakland Public Transit; QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement) Plan; Facility Assessment; and The Legionella and Water Management Plan. After the review process was complete a motion to approve and adopt the aforementioned plans was offered by Kathy Rennerfeldt with a second from Randy Johnson. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried. These documents are included in the minutes by reference and can be seen through contact with the Administrator’s office. An audit is being completed by Bland & Associates for review by the Board of Directors. Presentation by auditor is to occur at February meeting of this board. The winter weather storm of early January 2024 presented several hardships and the board would like to thank everyone who sacrificed and gave so the residents stayed safe and warm. A motion was offered by Rosa Schmidt with a second from Randy Johnson to leave regular session and enter in executive session for personnel discussion. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried. Executive session commenced at 9:25am. A motion was offered by Kathy Rennerfeldt with a second from Randy Johnson to leave executive session and return to regular session. On roll call ayes no nays motion carried. Regular session reconvened at 9:50am. QAPI/COVID – There was one positive team member on January 18, 2024 which resulted in no further positives at the time of this meeting. Current QAPI projects include audits and reinforcement of survey targets of deficiencies. Census of 38 in the nursing home and 21 in assisted living. There is a need for dietary aides, part-time evening cook, PRN Nurse, and FT/PT CNA/CMA for night shift. Incident summaries were reviewed, financials distributed and warrants submitted for payment. A motion was offered by Rosa Schmidt with a second from Dan Tanksley, Jr., to pay warrants as distributed. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried. There being no further business to transact, a motion to adjourn the meeting was offered by Randy Johnson with a second from Kathy Rennerfeldt. On roll call all ayes no nays motion carried.
